Five Members of the AAA-CPA Named to CPA Magazine’s “Top 40” Tax Advisors

Two AAA-CPA Members Elected to Positions in the California Society of CPAs
Fairfax, VA — Cory Stigile, Esq., CPA, DLA Piper, Los Angeles, and L. Richard Walton, Esq., CPA, BuchalterNemer, members of the American Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants (AAA-CPA), have been elected to positions in the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Stigile, a member of the AAA-CPA since 2003, has been elected as Treasurer of the Los Angeles Chapter of the CA Society of CPAs. Cory is an associate in the Tax practice group of DLA Piper and concentrates his practice on international tax and transfer pricing matters.
L. Richard Walton, a member of the AAA-CPA since 2006, has been elected the First Vice President of the Bakersfield Chapter of the CA Society of CPAs. He is Of Counsel to Buchalter Nemer in its Los Angeles office and a member of both the Litigation Practice Group, and the Tax and Estate Planning Practice Group.
Scott Levy Appointed Managing Partner of the Boston Office of Grant Thornton LLP
Boston — The national firm of Grant Thornton LLP has appointed Scott Levy the Managing Partner of the Boston Office. Prior to joining the Boston office, Levy served as the Assistant Managing Partner of the New York Cluster of the firm. Levy was responsible for the offices’ people, quality and client service, and oversaw each of the assurance, tax and consulting service lines. He previously served as Partner-in-Charge of Grant Thornton’s New Jersey office, and also served as the New York Assurance Practice Leader.
Mayer Joins Amper, Politziner & Mattia
New York -- Amper, Politziner & Mattia announced that Steven J. Mayer, CPA, has joined the firm as Partner-in Charge of the New York City office. As Partner-in-Charge, Mayer is directly responsible for ensuring client service, quality and client relations. Prior to joining Amper, Mayer was the co-managing partner of McGladrey & Pullen, LLP’s New York office.
Two Accounting Firms Merge
Boston -- Accounting and business advisory firms Rucci Bardaro & Barrett of Malden and Mathias Barnes & Henshaw of Lexington have merged. The merger combines the two firms’ client rosters and personnel under the Rucci Bardaro & Barrett banner and expands the number of RBB offices in New England to three. RBB’s partner group also has expanded to five with the addition of Roy Henshaw, a founder and managing partner of MBH.
Seay Named Audit Manager With Decosimo
Chattanooga, Tenn. -- Joseph Decosimo and Company, PLLC has named Jeff Seay, CPA as assurance manager with the firm’s Chattanooga office. Seay’s experience includes assurance and business advisory engagements for privately traded companies in a variety of industries, including construction, government, nonprofits, healthcare, manufacturing and distribution, as well as for employee benefit plans.
Tarpley & Underwood Promotes Two
Atlanta -- Tarpley & Underwood recently announced two promotions. Nicole Suk was promoted to tax director. She specializes in corporate tax, partnerships, high-net-worth individual clients and local income taxes. Paula Crowe was promoted to tax manager. She specializes in partnerships with clients from real estate, manufacturing, health care and construction industries.
San Antonio Firms Merges With Austin Firm
San Antonio -- San Antonio-based Padgett, Stratemann & Co., LLP, one of the largest CPA and business advisory firms in Texas, has merged with Sprouse & Anderson, LLP, a leading Austin-based CPA firm. The firms will unite under the PS&Co. name. The expansion into Austin increases PS&Co.’s presence in key sectors, including insurance and technology. Sprouse & Anderson has been in business in Austin for more than 45 years.
Mayer Hoffman McCann Expands Into New England Market
Leawood, Kan. -- Mayer Hoffman McCann, P.C. (MHM) announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the practice of leading regional accounting firm Tofias, P.C., which is based in Cambridge, Mass. Tofias, P.C., founded in 1966, is one of the Top 100 accounting firms in the nation providing accounting, auditing, tax and consulting services to privately held and public companies, not-for-profit organizations, family offices and high-net-worth individuals.
Amper Names New Audit Partner
New York -- Amper, Politziner & Mattia announced that Greg Kubikowski has joined the firm as audit partner. Kubikowski has more than 23 years of public accounting experience. During his 23 years at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, he worked with large, multi-national clients as well as many small and mid-sized organizations and served on the Strategic Risk Services Practice and Retail and Consumer Industry Practice Groups.
